There is a wide range of anchors that can be used with this type of base materials and there is no ideal anchor for all fixings. Your choice will depend on a series of factors such as the speed or convenience of installation, the load requirements of the anchoring, price, installation tools, etc.
To understand this better, first, we will give you a brief introduction to the selection of options available to us:
1. Toggles
As you can see, these are composed of a stud, at one end they have the element used to fix (nut, washer and then hook or the stud itself) and, at the other end, there’s the head, which can be bent 90º on the stud to pass through the hole previously drilled in the plate, once inside, the “head” opens again and is fixed to the material.
2. Spring toggles
These are very similar to normal toggles, but here the springs bend in two directions, like two “wings”, while the normal toggles only bend in one.
3. Indemoll anchor
This is an anchor with an expansion sleeve using a gun/clamp, it is placed onto the hole drilled in the plaster, the sleeve is then expanded using the clamp/gun, the screw is removed and passed through the plate to be fixed and the suitable tightening torque is then applied. The installation is then complete.
4. Tacos
The installation process for all of these plugs is very similar: first, you make a hole of the required diameter as given in the Technical Sheet, the plug is then inserted into the hole (ANCHOR with force, TAPLA with a thread) and, once the plug is installed, the screw is inserted that will expand and become fixed to the back of the plate thanks to the threading
To choose the right anchor depending on the installation to be carried out, there is a table below with the main characteristics of each one:
Anchor | Load | Installation | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Toggle | Low | Quick and easy for any user, but with medium/large drill diameters (For large cavities behind plasterboard) | Medium |
Spring toggle | Low | Quick and easy for any user, but with medium/large drill diameters (For small/medium cavities behind plasterboard) | Medium |
Indemoll | Medium | IMore technical installation, requires an installation tool (clamp or gun). Medium/small drill diameters. | Medium |
Anchor | Low | Quick and easy for any user, small drill diameters. Requires an extra screw. | Economical |
Plugs | Low/Medium | Quick and easy for any user, small drill diameters. Requires an extra screw. | Economical/Medium. Depending on the plug material selected |
